The Georgia Disciples Private Community is for every Disciple in Georgia AND for every Disciples Congregation or Ministry in Georgia. In other words, “Connection” means exactly what Webster says: “the act of connecting; the state of being connected. “ It means that no one is excluded; and it means that seekers can find a place as well. The Georgia Disciples Private Community was created in order to encourage and facilitate communication, collaboration, creativity, and compassion among Disciples of Christ. Sometimes being a part of a community “outside” the physical community of a congregation can actually enhance relationships within the congregation. Think about what social networking sometimes does to help people keep in touch. Likewise, being a part of a “connected community” via the Internet and through what Christian College has created in partnership with Transforming the Church can help to reach across those barriers to regular formal and informal communication: distance, schedules, limited abilities to travel, and even differing communication abilities which create barriers. Our purpose is to help Disciples communicate with one another from Valdosta to Rome, Waycross to Cherry Log, and everywhere in between. Our purpose is to help congregations and other ministries work together more effectively. Our purpose is to strengthen the work of leaders in the Region as they interact in those interims between meetings and conferences. It is for all of us.
