Christian College is known as "...the Disciples' College" because the educational program is presented by and prepared for Disciples of Christ; and it is purposed for Discipleship -- specifically, for followers of Jesus Christ. Everyone is encouraged and anyone is welcomed to participate.
Many of the courses, seminars, and other learning experiences are prepared for those Disciples of Christ who desire to be more effective in their roles in congregations and other ministries. A core of courses is designed for those who are "Called" into ministry in the Christian Church; therefore these courses will have specific language about serving in the various ministries of the Church. Students enrolled in these courses may be developing and documenting competencies as defined by the General Commission on Ministry of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in the US and Canada. Normally these competencies are measured and monitored by Regional Commissions on Ministry in collaboration with those in preparation for ministry, those serving as Commissioned Ministers, and those who are preparing themselves for the Ordained Ministry through an "Alternative-to-Seminary" Track.
Other learning experiences will offer instruction in following Jesus in the twenty-first century; these events and opportunities are for Discipleship, and are designed to reach Christians who are seeking a deeper relationship with God and others.
Finally, there are also opportunities for "Professional Development" for those who are serving in ministry. These may be short-courses, refresher courses, seminars, or continuing education opportunities. Christian College is "...the Disciples College" with a primary emphasis on life-long learning.
