This course will enlarge the understanding of leadership and focus on a multiple meanings of the vocation of ministry for both clergy and lay leaders. The class will give attention to three aspects of effective functioning as a congregational leader: the being of the leader, the knowing for leading, and the doing required of the leader. Primary emphasis is given to the tasks of dreaming or visioning for a missional congregation, caring for the church and community, organizing for the mission, and resourcing the congregation. About This Course This course is entirely online; no travel is required and all you need to participate is an web browser and a suitable broadband Internet connection. The course consists of seven 40-minute video-on-demand lectures plus seven weekly 60-minute conference calls with Dr. McSwain. The course is conducted over a period of seven weeks. In this period, each student will watch the week's video-on-demand lecture and then meet together via a live interactive conference call to discuss the week's assignment with Larry and other members of the class as well as ask any questions you might have.
